Just Because

I find that some of the more hilarious experiences of my day happen while cooking dinner with Landon.  The other day, he told me that he would take care of cutting the onion. I couldn't figure out why he would volunteer for the job--it always makes my eyes water like crazy.  He left to the other room before starting, and came back with these on...

Be My Valentine

Landon and I had a fun Valentine's this year, aside from the usual homework and MCAT prep. Landon has mentioned a couple times that he has wanted a nerf gun, so I decided that cupid would get him one this year. Really not that romantic, but I decided to go with "fun" instead.  I left him this note on the doorstep with the nerf gun wrapped in red paper.  Inside, I was waiting, with mission impossible music blaring, and I moved all of our furniture around to be a battle field so you could use the couches and tables for cover.  I was pretty tricky and hid the valentine's candy near the door, so he missed it on the way in, and went through the whole house before he found it, ha.  With the candy I left him a book of "52 Reasons Why I love You," so it was at least somewhat romantic, right?

I thought it was planned so perfectly, except I forgot to put batteries in his gun.  He thought I took them out on purpose, ha. So he had to make a break for the office to put the batteries in before he could really  shoot back or search the house, but it worked out ok.  However, I am already regretting giving him a nerf gun. He sat and shot me like a million times all night.

I found this from Landon--he knows how I love cinnamon gummies and chocolate :) He did some other fun things like getting up early to make me breakfast. Some of our celebration was last weekend for the sake of time and homework. Landon asked me out on a fun dinner date.  He also knows the way to my heart is through food ;)

We even got treats from our sister Whitney on our doorstep.  I told Landon he had competition, because it asked me to be her valentine :)  He said it was no competition, because his said "Be my valentine FOREVER!"

Feeling great!

I just thought I would let everyone know, that we really appreciate all of your prayers. When we had testing done and went to the doctor for the problems with my side, the doctor didn't know what the problem was--other than that the tests said my organs were fine. The pain continued for a week or so, but then went away and I have not had it for about a week now! We count it as answer to prayer :) Thanks everyone!

Here's me at 25 weeks pregnant. He's starting to stick out!
There's nothing crazy important in this post. Just a little on our week. Landon and I were so excited to finally get people to come to choir this week. We tried a new time, and made cinnamon rolls/orange rolls. We decided we should have changed one variable at a time, because now we can't pinpoint why it was so much more successful. I just don't know if I can promise something like cinnamon rolls every time, so I"m gonna tell myself it was the different meeting time...

You know how you when make a plate of treats, and you put saran wrap on, it ruins all the frosting?! This is Landon's device made of straws to keep that from happening. I had to laugh, but it worked pretty well.

So, I especially bought the carrots in the bigger bag this week so they would have a re-closeable top. Apparently Landon didn't notice that difference, and punched a hole in the other end. He thought that warranted a picture...

We invited some friends over for FHE this week. For the activity we took an idea from our brother David and carved zucchinis into boats and then raced them down the river outside our house.

These guys were intense. They even carved in designs, put on the floating things on the sides, and made sails. Sadly, the boats got pretty caught in the side brush, and lost most of the additions before they really floated down the river.  But we won, just thought I'd throw that in there.

And I know this is weird timing, but I finished making stockings for next year. We had to do them after Christmas because that was when we had access to the embroidering machine  (Thanks Grandma Rowley!). We had fun picking the different fabrics (which took a while because Landon and I are both opinionated in our attention to detail), sewed the stripes, quilted them, and sewed them all together. I thought they turned out fun. I don't sew all that often, so it was a fun project.

Landon had to make sure it fit
