Fall Firsts

So this fall was full of firsts for our new family. Obviously, getting married was a bit of a first. But we have also been doing some experimenting. Landon's sister Whitney came over to carve pumpkins with us and we decided to try roasting the seeds. Experimenting is a difficult idea in my mind, as a perfectionist, but I was pretty happy with how they turned out. Whitney and Landon's pumpkins are the ones that look like they took a bit of talent. I just did a nice ol' Jack-o-lantern. But it was a lot of fun, and we finished without any major lacerations, which is successful in my book. Landon tries to say that his choice of spelling was meant to be cute, but based on his surprised face when I pointed it out, I think it's a cover.

Landon and I celebrated our first major holiday together. For Halloween we planned to go to the ward costume party, but school and work ended a little too late. My theory is that you can't have Halloween without dressing up, so we went to the Olive Garden so that we could still be in public in the costumes. Would you believe we were the only people dressed up in the whole place?! We got some fun comments and stares, it was great. Then we ended the night with a good visit to scare Whitney and her roommates, and pick up some delicious carmeled apples.

As for "firsts", we also tried some new ideas for fall. I baked bread on my own for the first time. Let's just say there is room for improvement, but it was edible. We also decided that we were going to try making some carmeled apples for people in the ward. I felt so festive! Landon also took me on a drive to see the colors in the canyon as part of our one-month anniversary celebration. It's amazing how bright the trees can be at this time of year, I love it.

Fall has never really been a favorite season in my book, but after the past month or so, I am becoming a huge fan!
